A person has died in hospital following a crash between a tractor and a motorbike on Saturday morning.
Police said the crash on Piakonui Road in Richmond Downs, near Matamata, was reported to them at 10.40am.
The motorcyclist was critically injured and died in hospital on Saturday night.
Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash were ongoing.
The death brought the Easter holiday road toll to five.
On Saturday, three people died in a crash on State Highway 8, near Aoraki Mount Cook.
The crash involved two vehicles and a motorcycle and happened between Hayman Road and Tekapo Canal Road about 1.30pm.
One of the deceased was riding a motorcycle while two others who died were travelling together in one of the cars, police said.
Another person died in a crash on State Highway 5, Rotorua, early on Sunday morning.
