A person has been left in critical condition after a crash between a vehicle and pedestrian on State Highway 6 in Southland.
Police were alerted to the serious crash between Brandon and Wemyss Streets about 1.40pm.
The critically injured person was airlifted to hospital.
Police said the road was expected to be closed for some time while a scene examination took place.
Motorists are advised to use an alternative route.
