Dog found at scene of crash, but driver gone

Police are searching for the owner of a German shepherd rescued from a crash in Auckland on Friday morning.

Police arrived at a crash on the Awhitu Peninsula at 4.42am, finding the dog hanging around a rolled vehicle.

The dog was uninjured, but the driver was nowhere to be found.

The dog was a guest for a time at the Pukekohe Police Station, but has now been moved to the Manukau Animal Shelter.

Police were searching for the driver.

"If you recognise this dog, or know who the owners are, please contact Police on 105, referencing the event number P057155475," they said in a statement.
