A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found dead in a house fire earlier this week.
Police said emergency services were called to the fire on Reeve Street in Foxton around 4.30am on Wednesday.
A man's body was found inside the house and an initial investigation has deemed the circumstances surrounding the fire suspicious.
Detective Inspector Craig Sheridan said police were working hard to work out what had happened and who was responsible.
"Police would like to hear from anyone who saw suspicious activity in the Reeve Street area in the early hours of Wednesday morning, or who has information that could assist the investigation.
"Further updates will be provided as the investigation allows."
