Fonterra has confirmed one of its milk tankers was involved in a fatal crash south of Palmerston North on Wednesday.
Two people died in the two-vehicle crash at the intersection of State Highway 57 and Kara Road in Shannon.
Police said they were called to the crash around 3pm.
Fonterra said in a statement the driver of its milk tanker suffered only minor injuries and the company was providing him with support.
