A crack in an isolation valve was the cause of a gas leak in Auckland's CBD, which shut off a busy intersection.
Emergency services were alerted to the leak at the intersection of Customs Street East and Gore Street just before 5pm on Thursday evening.
Vector said it remained unclear what caused the crack and has an investigation underway to determine how it happened.
The intersection is now back open to the public after full repairs overnight.
CBD resident Tu Natanahira, who was in the area at the time, said it had caused significant disruption to the traffic.
"There's about a dozen or so buses wrapped around Commerce St heading towards Gore St," he said on Thursday.
Natanahira said "more and more cars starting to come home from work" were also adding to a traffic jam.
