A pedestrian has been seriously injured after being hit by a car in Auckland's Mount Albert.
Police were called to the scene on New North Road about 8.25am on Monday.
The pedestrian was taken to hospital in a seious condition, police said.
Motorists were asked to avoid the area as the road is expected to be closed for several hours.
Diversions are in place between Great North Road and Richardson Road, police said.
The Serious Crash Unit has been advised and inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are underway.
