A person has died after a reported assault in Waitako on Wednesday evening.
Police said they responded to a report of a serious assault at a residential address in Ngāruawāhia's Cavan Street just before 9.30pm.
Officers found a person dead at the house when they arrived.
One person has been taken into custody and charges are being considered.
"Enquiries in to the circumstances of the incident are underway and further information will be released proactively when it is available, a police statement said.
