NZEI has confirmed primary school teachers will strike on Thursday.
They want to see immediate action on staffing, student support, teacher relief and recognition of their work.
NZEI's negotiation team met with the Ministry of Education today but no improvement was made on the government's pay offer.
President Mark Potter said teachers needed a significant bump to previous pay offers to address problems in the sector.
