A person has died following a two-vehicle crash on Main Street, Mataura.
The incident in the Southland town occurred near the intersection with Cardigan Bay Road about 3.30am, police said.
One person waas been transported to hospital via helicopter with moderate injuries.
The Serious Crash Unit attended the incident.
