A person involved in a crash on State Highway 2 in a rural area of western Bay of Plenty this afternoon has died.
The person was the driver of a car that collided with a truck about 3.55pm, near the intersection of Omokoroa Rd in Whakamarama.
SH2 was blocked for some time after the crash.
The truck driver was unharmed.
The serious crash unit attended the scene.
In an update just before 9.30pm, police said they were were still at the scene, however, the highway was expected to reopen soon.
