A man charged with murder over the death of a woman in Napier last week will appear in the city's high court next month.
Police were called to a house on Nuffield Avenue in the suburb of Marewa early on Friday morning.
Arohaina Henare, 34, died and late on Saturday afternoon, a 48-year-old man known to her was arrested.
He was granted interim name suppression at the Hastings District Court today.
He was remanded in custody and is due to next appear before the Napier High Court on 9 December.
A police cordon remained around the property today and flowers had been placed by the letterbox.
