The victim of a stabbing attack at a Christchurch park earlier this week remains in a critical condition in hospital.

The man was found with stab wounds in Bexley Reserve at the Pages Road entrance early on Monday morning.

Police said today they had searched properties in relation to the serious assault and that there would be an increased police presence in the Bexley area.

An 18-year-old man appeared in Christchurch District Court yesterday, charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He has been remanded in custody ahead of a further court appearance on next month.

A 23-year-old woman was also due to appear in Christchurch District Court today charged as an accessory after the fact.

The pair were arrested and charged on Wednesday afternoon.

The victim's family have thanked police, the local community and the medical staff at Christchurch Hospital after the arrests.
