Police say they have identified the body found in the Auckland Harbour last night.
A member of the public discovered the body next to a fishing dinghy between Beach Haven and Herald Island about 8pm on Wednesday.
Police said, at this stage, they were not able to release the man's name and the death had been referred to the coroner.
