Police have seized guns and arrested two men in a crackdown on a gang operating in Auckland's affluent suburb of Remuera.

Officers first searched a vehicle parked in Remuera's Shore Road, and later brought in the Armed Offenders Squad to execute a search warrant at a property in the street, police said.

The searches were part of Operation Cobalt investigations into the Mongols Motorcycle Club.

Firearms, ammunition and other items associated with the gang were seized, police said.

After the vehicle was searched a 21-year-old patched member of the gang was charged with unlawful possession of a restricted weapon and unlawful possession of ammunition.

During the search of the property police said they found an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle and another rifle, a shotgun, ammunition, and items from several gangs including patches from the Mongols, Comancheros and Bandidos.

Following the property search police charged a 31-year-old Mongols associate with "a range of serious firearms charges", including possession of a prohibited firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of a restricted magazine, police said in a statement.

Two other people, another man and a woman, were also arrested at the property but on unrelated matters, police said.

Detective Inspector Aaron Proctor said police were continuing a strategy to disrupt illegal gang behaviour.

"This is a fantastic result for Police and the community we are trying to keep safe through our ongoing disruption ... directed at the Mongols.

"The public can expect Police will continue to hold gangs to account for offending we are identifying through our disruption and suppression activity."
