The figure likely reflects lower testing numbers typically seen during the weekend, but is the lowest count since 19 February.

The seven-day rolling average of community case numbers reached 2559 today, a significant decrease from last Sunday's 3733, or the 4302 seven-day rolling average count on the Sunday two weeks ago.

The deaths of ten more people with Covid-19 were reported today by the ministry; one person in their 50s, one in their 60s, two in their 70s, two in their 80s and four aged 90 or over.

Three of those who died were from Auckland region, two from Waikato, one from Nelson Marlborough, three from Canterbury, and one from Southern.

As of today, 2778 people have died in New Zealand following a Covid-19 diagnosis.

The latest case numbers tally to 18,239 people with confirmed and active cases of Covid-19 both in the community and at the border.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in New Zealand throughout the pandemic is now 1,718,231.

From this weekend the Ministry of Health has stopped providing a daily media release about the Covid-19 figures on Saturdays and Sundays, but its daily figures would still be updated online.
