One person has died following a crash involving three trucks on State Highway 8 through Burkes Pass in the Mackenzie region.

Two other people suffered minor injuries, police said in a statement.
Emergency services were alerted to the crash at around 8.50am.
SH8 has been closed at the snow gates on either side of the pass.
The road will be closed for much of the day while staff attend and examine the scene.
The Serious Crash Unit has been notified.
