Auckland secondary principals are asking for a slowdown in wide-ranging changes facing schools.

They said Covid-19 had stretched schools and they were not happy with the number of changes, the breadth of work needed and the time-frames.
They want more time and more resources to cope with changes to the NCEA qualification, the curriculum, and a new attendance strategy.
A similar warning was issued by primary school principals in Invercargill last week.
Auckland Secondary Schools Principals' Association president Greg Pierce said schools were working on many changes, and were working well with the ministry, but they were already stretched by Covid-19.
"What we're asking for is ongoing collaboration and consultation with these changes to make sure that when they occur they're effectively resourced and appropriately planned.
"Not all of them can be equally as important as each other, and what we're saying is something has to give."
The Ministry of Education said it had deferred several initiatives and knew that people were tired.
It said it would continue to provide clarity about planned changes and seek feedback from schools.
