Auckland store Smith and Caughey's targeted

Smith & Caughey's department store in central Auckland has been broken into using a weapon.

Smith and Caughey's department store on Auckland's Queen's Street was been targeted by ram raiders on 12 June.

Police were called to the Queen Street department store at 11.40pm on Sunday.

It was not a ram raid, but a weapon was used to get inside and number of people took a range of items before leaving the scene in three vehicles, police said.

Two vehicles used in the burglary were later found abandoned Napier Street, in the inner city suburb of Freemans Bay.
