A person has died after a serious crash this morning in Waitara.
The crash occurred about 10:15am when a car went into the Waitara River at Waitara Bridge, north of New Plymouth.
The body of one person was recovered from the car this evening.
A formal identification process will be undertaken to identify the victim, police said.
The road is now open.
