A man has died after he was involved in an incident with a car in central Auckland early Sunday morning.

Police say the incident involving a vehicle and pedestrian happened at 2.35am on Sunday, near the intersection of Customs Street East and Commerce Street.
The vehicle left the scene by was later found by police.
The pedestrian suffered critical injuries and died yesterday in Auckland City hospital.
"Our thoughts are with the man's family at this difficult time.
"Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident," a police spokesperson said.
