Two people have been charged with the murder of a Gisborne woman nearly three weeks ago.

Maraea Smith died on her 36th birthday after being shot in Tairāwhiti.
A man, 36, and a woman, 30, were arrested today in Manurewa, Auckland, and charged with her murder.
They appeared in the Manukau District Court and were remanded in custody.
They will next appear before a judge in the High Court at Gisborne on 6 May 2022.
