Homicide investigation after man killed in East Auckland

A homicide investigation has been launched after a man was killed at a house in East Auckland.

Unexplained death in Taita, Lower Hutt early on Sunday 26th January 2020.  A Police cordon and crime scene invetsigation tent were in place Monday 27th January 2020.

Police were called to Dalton Street in Point England just before midnight with reports of a shooting.

Emergency services attended and attempted first aid, but the man died at the scene.

A 31-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is due to appear in the Auckland District Court today.

Police said the man, who is known to the victim, has been been charged with breaching bail and unlawful possession of a firearm.

They said a firearm was located and a scene examination is being carried out.
