Last week, police sought the 37-year-old after he failed to stop for them in the Whangārei suburb of Tikipunga, and fled the scene.

Yesterday evening, police found him at an address on Auckland's North Shore and took him into custody.

"Our investigation remains ongoing into the incident last Thursday in Tikipunga, where a number of vehicles were damaged before the man fled."

The 37-year-old was due to appear in Waitākere District Court today, facing 14 burglary charges and possession for supply of methamphetamine charge.

Police said they could not rule out further charges being laid.

They also found two modified firearms and a number of stolen property after recent search warrants.

The recovered stolen items include a digger, worth about $50,000, that was allegedly stolen from Whangārei along with a trailer.

Police thanked the public for their help and said they would work to return stolen items to their owners.
