State Highway 1 has reopened between Puhoi and Warkworth after an earlier closure following a fatal crash south of Warkworth.

The two-vehicle crash was reported at 1.38pm on SH1, south of the Warkworth township.
One person was in critical condition but died at the scene.
Another person is in a serious condition after the crash and was transported to hospital.
A section of of the highway was closed in afternoon as the Serious Crash Unit undertook an investigation at the scene of the crash.
Diversions were put in place for traffic heading north and south.
Waka Kotahi says people should expect delays as congestion on State Highway 1 eases after it reopened about 8pm.
