Police have found the body of a person swept out to sea near SH 35 Omaio following an extensive search.

At around 8.30pm yesterday police were told a person may be in difficulty in the sea.
The person was believed to be fishing near the river mount before attempting to cross the water.
They were found dead overnight.
Locals helped police with the search, and police would like to thank them for their assistance.
Enquiries into the death will be made by police on behalf of the Coroner.
