A 49-year-old Auckland man is due to appear in Rotorua District Court today in relation to the stabbing of a woman in Motutere, Taupo District.

Police said the victim remained in a critical condition in Waikato Hospital.
The incident happened yesterday about 12.30pm.
Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Rawlinson said the man would appear in court today charged with attempted murder, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and aggravated assault.
