Hidden Lakes Festival was held in at Hagley Park on 28 December, with six close contacts of the community case of the Omicron variant announced yesterday playing to crowds.

In a statement, Canterbury District Health Board said it considered the risk to be extremely low for attendees, because the close contacts had previously tested negative that day and physical distancing measures were in place.

The six people had been in contact with UK musician Robert Etheridge, who was here for the Rhythm and Alps Festival and tested positive.

The contacts are now self-isolating in Christchurch under the management of the local public health unit.

Anyone who has Covid-19 symptoms should get tested, with testing available throughout the holiday period in Canterbury.

Details of locations and times can be found on the Canterbury DHB and Healthpoint websites.

The DHB is also advising that visitors to Christchurch who need to see a doctor can visit one of the following urgent care practices, but you must call first if you have Covid-19 symptoms.
