Waste water detection of Covid-19 in Stratford has been confirmed by the Ministry of Health but it is not yet linked to a known case.

Taranaki's medical officer of health says the strong positive waste water testing in Taranaki means it is highly likely at least one active case is in the area.
Dr Jonathan Jarman said the region's DHB was informed of the result on Thursday evening, while Covid-19 was detected in the wastewater in Stratford on Monday.
"Additional follow-up wastewater samples will be taken throughout the region in the coming days," the Ministry of Health said.
"It is possible the wastewater detection is linked to a historical case who is continuing to shed the virus.
"We are asking anyone with any symptoms - no matter how mild - to get tested, especially anyone who has travelled outside of the region recently.
"If you live in the Taranaki region and haven't been vaccinated, today is a good opportunity to do so."
Currently, 68 percent of the eligible population in Taranaki are fully vaccinated and 85 percent have had their first dose.
Testing is available in Stratford today at the following locations:
- The War Memorial car park, 55 Miranda Street, Stratford
- The Avon Medical Centre, 8 Romeo Street, Stratford
