On Wednesday morning, a 69-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed in the ground level car park of the LynnMall Shopping Centre.

Police said her mobile phone was taken and an attempt to take her vehicle was also made.

The woman was taken to hospital but has since been discharged and is recovering at home, police said.

In an update today, they said there had been an overwhelming response from the public after an appeal was made.

"Due to this valuable information, we are confident we have identified the alleged offender," Detective Senior Segreant Mike Frost said.

"We are now making a number of enquiries to locate that person and hold them to account."
