Two people are dead in separate vehicle accidents today.

One person is dead after a crash involving a train and truck in Marton this afternoon.
The crash near Saunders Road was reported around 3:30pm.
The person who died was travelling in the truck, police said.
In another fatal accident, a pedestrian is dead after a crash on the Waikato Expressway this afternoon.
The Waikato Times is reporting that the pedestrian is believed to have been a road worker.
The crash, involving a pedestrian and a truck, was reported around 1:10pm on the expressway at Rangiriri.
An investigation into the circumstances of both crashes is underway.
