The Kennedy Point Marina was granted resource consent in 2018 for a 186-berth marina and floating car park at Pūtiki Bay.

Save Kennedy Point has sought to halt the marina's construction through the Environment Court, High Court and Court of Appeal.

The group said the Supreme Court's decision was a disappointing outcome to a decade-long battle.

It said a rehearing was being sought because mana whenua representative Ngāti Paoa Trust Board opposed the marina.
