A man is missing after an early morning fishing expedition at Piha, near Auckland.

Police say the Eagle and Westpac Rescue Helicopters are out searching for him, with help from Piha Surf Club.
The man and a friend went fishing early this morning on the rocks and he was last seen about 5.30am.
MetService is forecasting large swell with waves with faces up to 3.3 metres at Piha today.
