In a statement, the Ministry of Health said there were 100 active cases.

Yesterday, two cases in MIQ were reported and none in the community.

From next week the Ministry of Health is planning to ramp up a campaign to encourage as many people as possible to get their Covid-19 vaccination, as it aims to administer a million doses by the end of June.

Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield said despite surveys suggesting 9 percent of the population is unwilling to take the vaccine, he was optimistic the decliners would decrease over time.

Aucklanders may be able to get their Covid-19 vaccinations at a drive through - if the tricky logistics can be sorted.

The Covid-19 immunisation campaign began in Tonga today with Princess Pilolevu Tuita the first person to receive her first dose of the Covid-19 AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine, followed by frontline workers on Tongatapu.
