Four dead after crashes in North and South Island

A person has died in a vehicle fire in Auckland.

Police said emergency services were called to the fire on Chapel Road in Flat Bush after 8pm yesterday.

A body was found in the vehicle.

Cordons are up and a scene examination is taking place this morning.

Police said anyone with information should contact them.

Four dead after fatal crashes

Four people have died in fatal crashes since yesterday afternoon.

A person died after two cars collided in the suburb of Castlecliff in Whanganui about 2am this morning.

Another was killed after their car left the road in Maimai in Buller at 8.30pm last night. A second person in the car received minor injuries.

A person has died of their injuries from a single-vehicle crash on Matakana Road north of Warkworth at about 6pm last night. The crash happened between Oak Road and Wright Road, police said.

In another crash just before 4pm yesterday, a motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a car at Governors Bay south of Christchurch, the driver of the car was also seriously injured.
