A man assaulted in Manawatū Prison two weeks ago has died.

Police said the man was assaulted on 11 February and died in hospital yesterday.
The police investigation has been upgraded to a homicide inquiry.
A 29-year-old man had previously been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He is to appear in the Dannevirke District Court on 13 April.
Police said further enquiries would be made to determine if any further charges will be filed.
