Two people died and three were injured in a crash in Moerewa in Northland.

Emergency services were called to the scene on State Highway 1 about 9.45pm on Monday.
The two who died at the scene were Maudie Dianne Pickering, 64, and Iharaira Trevon Maxi Hoterene-Rakete, 25. They were both from Whangārei and in the same vehicle.
A police spokesperson said three other people were moderately injured.
"Police will not be in a position to release the names of the deceased until all next-of-kin have been informed," the spokesperson said.
The Serious Crash unit is investigating.
