The Police National Dive Squad will search for a man missing in the Waimakariri River just north of Christchurch.

Police were called to the river shortly before 7pm on Sunday after the man's friends were unable to locate him after he went swimming.
The dive squad was to search between the State Highway 1 bridge and the Old Waimakariri bridge on Monday.
