Two people have died in crashes overnight.
A car came off the road near the Waimatau Creek Bridge on State Highway 1 at Woodend in Invercargill at around 10.30pm last night.
One person died at the scene.
The Bluff Highway is closed this morning while the Serious Crash Unit examines the scene.
In a North Island crash, a person died in hospital after their vehicle rolled on rural land at Leigh, in north Auckland.
