He appeared in the Auckland High Court before Justice Sally Fitzgerald today, and has interim name suppression.

His lawyer, Julie-Anne Kincade QC, told Justice Fitzgerald the man's family had planned to be in the courtroom but had travelled to the wrong court.

The baby was found dead at a property on Sandbrook Avenue in October this year.

A name suppression hearing is set down for next year.
