The death of a man on a rural Northland road last night is being treated as homicide.
It happened on Wayby Station Road south of Wellsford.
Emergency services responded to a call at about 7.45pm advising a person in a vehicle had suffered a gunshot wound, and the man was found dead when the police arrived at the scene.
Police guarded the scene overnight.
