Bay of Plenty police are looking for a person who abandoned their vehicle after a pursuit in Kawerau this morning.

They lost sight of the vehicle during the chase, and later found it in Newell Street.
People were asked to avoid the central business district and nearby schools were notified as a precaution.
Anyone who had seen anything suspicious was asked to contact police.
