There has been no sign of a swimmer missing near Mt Maunganui in the Bay of Plenty.

A search was launched yesterday after the man failed to return to shore while swimming with two others at Marine Parade.
Members of surf life saving clubs from Mt Maunganui, Papamoa and Omanu are helping today, using inflatable rescue boats.
Police say the sea conditions are challenging - with swells up to a metre-and-a-half.
