West Auckland school put into lockdown

A lockdown at primary school in West Auckland has been lifted as police establish the circumstances of an earlier incident in the neighbourhood.

Two people have been taken to custody in west Auckland after a firearm was reportedly discharged. No charges have been laid yet.

Members of the Armed Offenders Squad approached the address.

Police said there were no reports of injuries at the Massey property.

Cordons were in place in a section of Keegan Dr in Massey and were expected to be lifted in due course.

A precautionary lockdown at the nearby Lincoln Heights School was lifted.

Lincoln Heights principal Leisha Byrnes said students and staff members were safe and parents had been notified.

Police said they were still establishing the full set of circumstances of the earlier incident with enquiries ongoing this afternoon.
