A car has ended up in the water off Wellington's Miramar Peninsula after going off the winding coastal road.
The police say initial indications are that one person has serious injuries.
The crash happened at about 2.15pm on Shelly Bay Road, at Shark Bay.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area and take an alternative route.
