Tomorrow marks a decade since the 7.2 magnitude quake that caused widespread damage around Canterbury.
Striking at 4.35am when most people were tucked up in bed, nobody was injured or killed by the quake.
It happened on a previously hidden fault line under the Canterbury Plains.
Commemorative events in Darfield scheduled for the anniversary had to be cancelled due to Covid-19 crowd limits.
