A person is missing after after getting into trouble in the Waikato River in the Hamilton Gardens area.

Police say one person entered the river and remains missing.
A second person went into the water to try to save them but was unsuccessful. They were assessed by St John and taken to hospital.
A police boat will search Waikato River and its banks for the missing person.
