Waitematā West area commander inspector Stefan Sagar said police spotted a stolen vehicle in Henderson.

The car failed to stop for the police and a chase began, ending up in a no-exit street.

The police vehicle was rammed at low speed while trying to block the vehicle.

The officer was hit shortly after and received a minor leg injury.

The stolen car was later found dumped.

Both occupants of the vehicle - aged 14 and 27 - have been taken into custody.
