Police recover meth and illegal weapons in drug bust

Police have seized an AK-47 gun and cash as part of a meth lab bust in Auckland's North Shore.

Waitemata police found the assault rifle and a submachine gun, methamphetamine, cash and jewellery during the raid at two Glenfield Road properties this morning.

Two people have been arrested, and will appear in the North Shore District Court tomorrow morning.

A 60-year-old man is facing two charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, as well as unlawful possession of ammunition.

A 44-year-old man is charged with methamphetamine possession.
