Forty-five-year-old Jeremy Powell was sentenced in the Christchurch High Court today for the murder of Angela Blackmoore in her Wainoni home in 1995.

Angela Blackmoore, who was 10 weeks pregnant, was stabbed 39 times in her head and neck.

Her partner was out at the time, but her two-year-old son was asleep in the house.

Justice Cameron Mander says the crime was planned and premeditated, and Powell had agreed to be paid for the attack.

Two other people face charges relating to her death and are due to go to trial next year.
